Congratulations to Sylvain!

Francis Batta and Alstare would like to send their congratulations to their former rider Sylvain Guintoli for his outstanding performance in Qatar on his way to winning the World Superbike title. Two superb victories were enough to secure the title - the first by a Frenchman since Raymond Roche in 1990.

Sylvain is the second former Alstare rider to take to take the World Superbike crown. The other was Italian Max Biaggi who was brought into World Superbikes by Alstare’s boss Francis Batta in 2007 and went on to take the title in 2010.

Sylvain had been watched in the BSB (the British Superbike Championship) by Alstare in 2009. Despite the fact that he was recovering from a big crash Francis Batta recognised his potential and brought him into World Superbikes alongside Leon Haslam in 2010. In his WSBK rookie year, he finished 7th overall in the championship and had only one DNF in the twenty-six races.

This year Sylvain again showed his consistency by finishing every race (the only rider in the championship to do so), taking five wins, sixteen podiums and two pole positions on his way to the title.

Whilst Sylvain Guintoli and Max Biaggi won their World Superbike Championships after leaving Alstare, Aussie Troy Corser was one rider who did it during his stay with Alstare. He dominated the 2005 season with his Alstare Suzuki GSXR, taking 8 wins, 18 podiums and the title by 54 points.

Alstare have been a stalwart of the World Superbike Championship since 1996 and have competed in four different classes – World Superbike, World Supersport, Superstock 1000 and Superstock 600.

During that time they have taken 7 titles, 72 victories and a massive 218 podiums.
